Default Issues relating to updates to old components

Hello everyone. I have an old delphi package with a set of of controls i had already installed. One of the controls draws itself in a way that i think it could be better. I opened the pas file, found the paint method and i changed a few lines and then recompiled the package. If i open delphi in design time and stick the control down it does exactly whay the code says. When i compile my program it seems to use the old paint procedure at run time. There is an if statement for drawing in design and runtime but this is not to blame. I recompiled my program. I reinstalled the package and yet it still runs the old code.

Is there a backup or a file that was created before that it is using during runtime that i need to remove so that i can see it use the new procedure?
