Default How to check if .MDB file is open in MSAccess...

I am trying to prevent a program from accessing a MS Access database file if the file is already open in MS Access. I've tried capturing the windows handle and checking with "fileopen()" with no success. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Default RE: How to check if .MDB file is open in MSAccess...

Well,

First, if your 'other application' is Access then just set it up for table level locks... In fact, this works well even if the 'other' application is NOT MS Access! Furthermore, you could make the Access .mdb that contains the table exclusive. This will ensure that only one person has access to any of the tables at any given time.

However, why go to all that trouble when you can set it up for record-level locking which will allow the other application to do anything it wants to the table, except for accessing the specific record that your MS Access app has retrieved.
