Default UI freezes after a time

Hello!

My app uses Indy to download podcast episodes (since I couldn't get TIEDownload to work). It presents download progress in a listview. All this is done in separate threads, one thread per podcast (RSS), and one for each separate download.

All calls to update the list items with download progress are done with Synchronize(), which I thought would prevent problems with threaded access to the same listview...

At first everything seems to be working well, but after a time the UI freezes up, and I can't do anything in the program. Even the menu bar (contained in TToolbar) goes away, and I can't change to another page in the main TPageControl of the application.

So, does anyone have some idea about what causes this, and how to solve it?

Best regards,
Christian Tiberg

Default RE: UI freezes after a time

perhaps if you can give some more details then someone will be in position to help you out.

for example, are your indy components also created and used inside threads
or
are you having them in your main thread along with gui and rest of the processing (like downloading and updating progress etc) is done through threads.

if you are having something like second case, then it is bound to give problem because indy download will be synchronous only.

Hope it is of some help

My Indy components reside on a datamodule that is created inside the downloader thread.
