Question Paradox 7 - pack table - insufficient disk space

Using BDE with Paradox 7 tables on XP PRO.

When trying to pack Paradox table with 28000 records I get error: insuffient disk space.

How might I pack the table?

I suggest you seriously consider going to a different database. The BDE is no longer supported (for years) and no one seems to be using paradox anymore (I liked it.) I'm using the Absolute database (http://www.componentace.com/) which has an excellent conversion of Paradox to the Absolute DB. It works well and is easy to use. And yes, you need a bigger hard drive 8-)

Exclamation Fyi:

The data is on a half full 500 gb drive.
The program Paradox 7 is on a 1/4 370 gb drive.
Any other suggestions?

Here is something I got using Google...

free space is very close to a multiple of 4 gigabytes. The only
solution for DBD is to change the amount of free space on the drive.
For your Delphi apps there is a fix available on Code Central that may
cure the problem. There is also a great deal of information in the
newsgroup archives that you can find using Google Groups.
This is another reason why using the BDE and Paradox tables is not a
good idea.

Lightbulb copy to temp, drop, recreate and copy back

As far as I remember this used to be the issue with big tables even during nineties when Delphi was widely used with paradox.

Further, you are very definetly maintaining some old application and might not have the option of changing the database.

So the only work around you can use for such issues is as following:

a) Create a temporary table with same structure as the one you are currently working with.

b) copy the whole data from original table to temporary table.

c) Drop / Delete the original table

d) Rename the temp table file to the original name.

Hope it helps.
