Which Database should I use???

I have a database project with around 20 clients on WIN NT or 2000. Which Database should I use?
It should be cheap and stable.
If I want to use a client/server Database is it necessary to have Delphi C/S?

I can recomand Borland Interbase. It is fast, easy to use and open source. It isn't neccessary to have Delphi C/S. You can find more information on http://www.borland.com/interbase
