Vizualization of electric signal

I want to create a source code ( or to find one ready) which enable me to vitalize in the screen of my computer the sinusoid of the electric voltage of an outlet (120 V AC or lower signal).

I believe that to do this I need first to obtain a “analogic to digital converter” where I will enter with the outlet voltage and in the output I will have a small signal that I will input in one port (which one ?) of the computer. The code will be done to visualize and to do some account with this signal..
Can you help me telling where to read an “easy” text about this ?
