Default Delphi + Firebird backup restore

Greetings all

I am using Firebird 2.5.

I have an application written in Delphi XE2 which is just a basic database maintenance app.

All it does is backs up and restores the database.

To do this i use the standard IBBackup and IBRestore that come with Delphi.

This has all worked great up until i tried to move this app up to Delphi XE2, now when ever I try and connect (IIBackup.ServiceStart i get an exception saying cannot attach to services manager.

I have looked on Embarcaderos site and they basically say I shouldnt be using those components ofr Firebird databases, however I know them and I am comfortable working with them, is there any sort of a work around that anyone knows of?

Thanks in advance!

Regards

Donovan

Dear friend,

try buy or (...) the FIBPlus 7.3 component (www.devrace.com) its great suite and fast access to services in API Firebird or Interbase library

Try REFACTORING the forms (see Project options or right click in form)

Try review the code in use (in all components)

Try test in parts of your project

Hi

Thanks for the reply

Sorry I meant to close this thread off, unfortunately we could not afford any delays so we had to purchase a component set.

Regards
