Thumbs down Messaging within the IDE?

A strange thing just popped up.
I am using D6 prof. under Win7 (32 bit). Fairly new install. D6 is a must due to various components fixed to that version.

My applications communicate with each other using, among other things, Windows messages.
Applications all work perfectly, if started directly as .exe. If one is run from within the IDE, no messages get through to that one. Outgoing messages work.
I can not remember having that problem before.

Do I have to set a specific 'something' in the IDE to allow message handling during run-time? Which?

Is it something 'new' under Win 7? (used to run XP)

Took me 10 years to find that running the IDE and EXE versions were 2 different operations.

Maybe this is the solution.

TOOLS
DEBUGGER
Bottom corner INTEGRATED DEBUGGING.

or under LANGUAGE EXCEPTIONS - Change STOP ON DELPHI EXCEPTIONS.

This question is a bit too general to answer.
How do you send your messsages from A to B, and how do you catch them

I'm guessing you have a SendMessage (or PostMessage?) in your code somewhere.
Perhaps the Handle is not the one you expect?
For example if you determine it by a FindWindow with form.Caption and you run as administrator you will not find it.
And what if you have multiple captions with text and you try to find it? You only do a SendMessage to the first found.
So therefor, what mechanism do you use and are you 100% sure of that outgoing messages work?
