Default Control the COMM -port (power ON/OFF on the pins).

Is there any component or similar that can control the power ON/OFF on the COMM or paralell ports? I want to control an electronic unit with on of the ports, and I don't want to transmit any data, just turn the power on the pins in the port ON or OFF. Is this possible???
Help appreciated!

Default RE: Control the COMM -port (power ON/OFF on the pins).

I would suggest a couple of links:

http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Bill_Bowden/page6.htm

http://www.hut.fi/Misc/Electronics/circuits/parallel_output.html

and finally if you are looking for already built stuff check out http://www.controlanything.com. Look at the .pdf files and examples. Most of this stuff only shows you how to do it in Visual Basic or Basic, but it should be easily translated.

What I would suggest is using an OptoIsolator to protect your parallel port from receiving damage. How familiar are you with electronics anyway? What type of help do you need, or do these links suffice?
