Hi guys,
been offline for a while, but I'm back from the dead ![]() I was wondering if anybody is (or specificly is not) using ODBC Express. Why should I (not) use it? What are the benifits of using it? Your opinions are welcome. Yo TeDDo !
I'm not an ODBCExpress user, but here's my advice : ODBC has the advantage to be universal : by using ODBC you can access any kind of DataBase you want. But it is also generally (not always the case) slower, because not native : components which are dedicated to a specific DataBase will be faster and more reliable. Another point I've heard is that that ODBC will progressivelly be abandonned for OLEDB. You'll have to verify this information truth, because I'm not sure of this, but it seems that no more developments will be done around ODBC : other solutions will just be compatible, by accepting ODBC solutions (for a compatibility problem with old applications). So maybe beginning today with an ODBC solution is not a good thing, if this information is true. Here's what I know. Think you'll need other advices to complete ![]() LörAn.
